FAULTS AND DEFECTS

Faults and failures on PAT Testing are fairly straightforward. A 'FAIL' on an item would be due to one, or more, of the following: (for example)

  • Cuts or slices in a flex

  • Signs of overheating on a plug or socket

  • Damage to an item that exposes live parts

  • Signs of overloading at a socket

  • Faults indicated by test equipment: there may be a fault inside the appliance, such as inadequate earthing provision

  • etc
